Cannock and the surrounding area is great for cycling. You can cycle through Cannock Chase, an area of outstanding natural beauty, or take a trip down one of the areas nationally recognised cycle trails.

Follow the dog

Cannock is home to the Monkey Trail and the Follow the Dog trail mapped to the right. These trails, located in Birches Valley, cut an exciting and challenging path through the beautiful Cannock Chase.

These man made trails are professionally maintained by a team of volunteers and are recognised as being among the best in the country.

For the brave, there’s Stile Cop. This specialised downhill site, suitable for riders aspiring to an elite level of technical ability, is situated within 5 minutes of Birches Valley. If you have a suitable bike, the right safety equipment, and enough experience,  riding Sitle Cop can be an immensely thrilling experience.

If you fancy a more relaxing ride, there are a selection of other trails to choose from including the Cannock Heritage Trail and Leisure and Family Trails.

The Cannock Heritage Trail was opened in 2008 by the Princess Royal, and runs from Cannock to Rugeley. It passes through Cannock Chase, areas of historic importance, and several local beauty spots. As you can see from the interactive map below, there are also a lot of places to stop off on route.
